Great toy, really keeps your cat occupied!
The moment you turn this product on, you have no idea how much fun your cats (and by extension you) will have. It seems a little slow compared to something a cat would enjoy, but trust me they love it. You can also pick it up and wave it around. I will warn you, don't place the laser in the path of things you don't want your cat knocking down. The laser bounces off a mirror in the housing of the toy, so it isn't directly hitting your cats. Even my dog likes it. 4 aaa batteries needed but you can run it with 3 in parallel. Awesome toy!
Cat pacifier
We are remodeling our home and have two cats. There is alot of dust and paint flying around and we have had a few disasters with the curious cats. We can turn on this toy in another room and entertain them for hours. No crying to get out, no scratching at the door and no paint prints on our new floors. I didn't give 5 stars because sometimes, rarely, the cats figure out that the toy is creating the laser and they knock it over. Especially when they slide it off a table or counter. Also they are running around in circles knocking into each other and sometimes the toy. We have new wood floors so a cringe every time I here it fall. So far no dents but it worries me a little.

It's the only excersize my indoor cat gets. I LOVE that it is on a 15 minute timer so you can turn it on and leave the house...walk away, etc. HIGHLY suggested.
Works well, cat loves it, but don't expect random laser movement.
Many other reviewers have described the FroliCat BOLT, so I won't add my own version of that information. My cat loves the BOLT, and every couple of days he will "ask" me to turn it on by pawing at the shelf I keep it on and meowing. If your cat likes chasing lasers (and is not upset, obsessed, or traumatized by chasing something that s/he can't catch), then the BOLT is probably something you will both enjoy.
One important criticism that I've seen on only one other review: The BOLT does **NOT** produce automatic patterns. Despite the praise I have for this product, it is disturbing to me whenever a company fails to be completely truthful--and in FroliCat's case, their description of the product is vague (to be charitable). Worse, the box that the BOLT comes in is printed with images that are downright misleading--so if you're buying this based on seeing the box somewhere, then be warned.
The description states that the BOLT "automatically generate[s] red laser patterns," and the box shows a laser emanating from the BOLT in a random, zigzag-y path. If you're like me, then "patterns" brought to mind something fairly elaborate, and given that the selling point of the BOLT is its "automatic" mode, I naturally assumed that the image on the box showed how the product operates when in that mode. In TRUTH, the laser travels around in a circle, stopping every 90 degrees or so. As it is aimed upwards at the manually adjustable angled mirror that you can see in the product image, the result is not a crazy, random-seeming zigzag but a regular, predictable ellipse distorted by whatever furniture or walls are in the way.
Now to be completely fair, this predictability isn't a bad thing at all from the perspective of my cat. Indeed, it allows him to hide and stalk the light that he knows will always be coming back around to his hiding spot. However, as I've said, I thoroughly dislike being misled when it comes to what a product is capable of and not capable of, and when it happens I definitely think twice before purchasing another product from the same company. If you're the same way, I hope that this will prevent some disappointment for you.

This is a well-engineered product; it does everything it's supposed to do. I don't know if my two cats are typical but they enjoyed it for awhile, then became bored with it. I put it away and only get it out once in awhile. That seems to work.
